Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan launched its first post-pandemic tour overseas in October 2022, where they performed ’13 Tongues’, a reputable production since its 2016 opening. ’13 Tongues’ is reported by The Times as “…a visually arresting expression of cultural memory” as it delves into ancient Taiwanese superstitions, religious rites, and cultural memories fading over time.The company presented 10 performances in Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and Chicago.
In "13 Tongues," divinity, souls, and humanity encounter and confront one another—sometimes in darkness, sometimes before holy light, or within water and fields. Our design employs simple lines to evoke ripples, reflecting the waves of emotion this music and dance performance will stir in your hearts.
